Teen who died in Car Wreck Identified

We now know the name of an Ocean Springs teen involved in a fatal car wreck in Forrest County. Nineteen-year-old Sierra Jones died after being ejected in a single car crash south of Brooklyn on US 49.

The last thing the Ocean Springs teen put on her Facebook Page: “I know for a fact God is real.”

The post has already received over 600 shares.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Jones was going northbound when her car veered off the highway, crashing into a tree.

Friends of Jones tell News 25 that before graduating and starting college at the University of Southern Miss, Jones played basketball for St. Martin High School. They will remember her as someone who always did everything with passion. Ashley Pham is Sierra’s friend and teammate. She said, “She uplifted anyone she’d see that was down, you know, having a bad day. Anything negative that came her way, she would also look at the bright side of it. She was always positive about anything coming her way.” Sierra’s high school basketball coach Gina Bell said, “She was our team leader. Protector is what comes to mind when I think about her. She protected teammates but most especially her family.”

Pham tells News 25 the family Sierra belongs to this most closely knit family she’s ever known. Pham knows Sierra’s parents, her two sisters and her brother will be missing her greatly.
