Teen arrested on charges of manslaughter in connection to crash that killed 2 people in Biloxi
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) —An 18-year-old has been arrested following a vehicle crash that killed two people earlier this month.
The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on October 10 at the intersection of Highway 90 and Myrtle Street.
When police officers arrived on scene, they located two vehicles that had collided causing one of them to roll over.
During an attempted extrication of the two occupants of the rolled vehicle, it was determined that both were deceased as a result of injuries sustained during the crash.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer identified the victims as 59-year-old Ollie Armstrong and her 7-year-old grandson Kevin North.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment.
During the crash investigation, Biloxi Police Department Traffic and Criminal Investigators obtained evidence indicating 18-year-old Izaun Baxter of Hattiesburg, was operating a vehicle in a reckless manner.
Police have determined Baxter’s vehicle struck another vehicle, resulting in the death of both occupants.
Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain reviewed the facts of the case and issued arrest warrants for Baxter for two counts of Manslaughter, Culpable Negligence.
Baxter was arrested on Monday, October 19th, 2020 on the outstanding warrants and booked into the Harrison County Jail. His bond has been set at $300,000.
