Teddy Bear Donations For Kids
One local organization is stuffing law enforcement vehicles with teddy bears for a good cause. Coast young professionals donated over 35 teddy bears to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department earlier this morning. The toys will be posted inside police vehicles and given out to kids experiencing traumatic situations. Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson tells News 25 giving a teddy bear to a child may seem like a small gesture but in their circumstances it could mean the world.
“They are going through hard times, they’re going through things they shouldn’t be involved in and for that officer to give them a teddy bear at the end of that or give them a stuffed animal it means a lot…”
– Troy Peterson Harrison County Sheriff
“They’re going to love it, I hope they do, they…with 39 of them that’s 39 kids they can help comfort and make a difference so we really hope that they enjoy it.”
– Olivia Munn Coast Young Professionals Director
Coast Young Professionals collected the bears back in November during a “Brews for a Benefit” event hosted at Lazy Magnolia’s Brewing Company.
