Tax-forfeited property sales

Tax-forfeited properties in Hancock County raised more than $192,000 over the past seven months.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says the money will be distributed in eight different ways. The Publics Land Division held an online property auction from April to May 2017 which generated most of the sales.
The Secretary of State’s Office has restored more than 400 parcels to the tax rolls in Hancock County. “There were literally 2,000 pieces of property in Hancock County that had been there really since Katrina. They’d been there over a decade. Nobody’s paying taxes. Nobody’s rebuilding. So, we through it’d be better to auction those and see if we can get private capital to come back in Hancock County and today we did. We brought them a check for $190,000,” said Hosemann.
