Taste of Long Beach

Today in Long Beach, restaurants provided a little sneak peek of what they have to offer. The eighth annual Taste of Long Beach brought the community together for good food, good drinks and good times.
News 25’s Hank Davis has the details.
An entire community gathered on the town green to try out signature drinks and specialty dishes from local restaurants at the eighth annual Taste of Long Beach. With live music, mouthwatering food, and plenty to drink there’s no surprise that this event draws a crowd of over 500. Jenny Levens with Long Beach Chamber of Commerce said, “This event is to showcase what Long Beach has to offer. We invite all the restaurants from Long Beach to come down to the town green to give us a sampling of their best dish. For the community to come out, do something together and offer everybody on the Coast to come check out what we have.”
It’s a win-win situation for everyone. Restaurants get a chance to show potential customers what they can whip up and who doesn’t love free food? Double D’s, a 50’s themed diner is participating in Taste of Long Beach for the first time, and they’re excited to have a chance to showcase their culinary skills. “A lot of people don’t know about the local businesses like they should and for us to be able to come out and show what we have and what we can do, I think it’s a great thing.”
People poured into the eighth annual Taste of Long Beach to try out the best that the city has to offer, as well as a few surprises from as far away as California. California based winemaker Wes Hagen said, “We sold more wine in one day than just about any place we’ve ever sold wine before. For all you wine makers out there: come to Mississippi. The food is great, the people are amazingly hospitable. I love this place.”
It definitely looks like Long Beach has figured out the recipe for success, until next year at least!
