Swim-in for autism

A grant from IP Casino helped create a fun day in the pool for families affected by autism.
Dozens of kids and their families splashed in the pool at the Kroc Center in Biloxi during the swim-in for autism. This is the fourth annual swim-in hosted by the Mississippi Center for Autism. Kids and their parents spent the day playing and enjoying the water and each other.
Wayne Williams from the Mississippi Center for Autism says that spending a day swimming can be very beneficial for a child with autism. “It helps our kids so much because having autism, many times you have sensory issues. The water sort of feels good to their skin and it feels really good to that. It is sort of a quiet atmosphere because of the water. They get a lot out of it.”
Williams told News 25 that they expected around seventy kids and families to come and swim.
