Suspects in Pascagoula shooting death arrested in Mobile County

A suspect in a murder investigation in Pascagoula is in custody.

Pascagoula Police say 32-year-old Jerbert Burgos-Cotto was arrested in Mobile County on Thursday morning. He is charged with murder in the shooting death of Miguel Vasquez-Cruz.

Cruz was found dead after officers responded to a report of shots fired at Spruce Street and Lanier Avenue on Saturday afternoon. Two other people were injured in the incident.

Arrested with Cotto was Silkia Lopez, who is charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

Both suspects are being held at the Mobile County Metro Jail awaiting extradition to Mississippi.

Pascagoula Police say more charges could be forthcoming.

This morning Jerbert Burgos-Cotto and Silkia Lopez were apprehended in Mobile County by the Mobile County’s Special Operations Interdiction Unit.
