Suspect who escaped custody at hospital back behind bars
Aceon Ja’shun Hopkins, 20, who escaped custody while at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, is back in custody in Meridian.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said Hopkins turned himself in to a family friend in Neshoba County early Tuesday.
Hopkins was shot in Moss Point in an incident that left another man dead.
Two other people charged as accomplices in the case are in the Jackson County jail.
The investigation continues and Ezell said there could be more arrests in the case.
Ezell said that after Hopkins was shot, Meridian Police notified the sheriff’s department that he is a suspect in two murders in that city. Meridian also has 13 warrants on Hopkins for various charges. The sheriff said Hopkins is also wanted in Gulfport on drug charges.
