Suspect charged in Sunday morning shooting in Gulfport

Lincoln Lee Mays is a suspect in a Sunday morning shooting in Gulfport.

An argument that escalated into a shooting resulted in one person being sent to the hospital and the other to jail.

About 4:13 a.m. Sunday morning, Gulfport Police responded to a local hospital in reference to a complaint of a shooting.

Officers made contact with a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives discovered the suspect, a 29-year-old male identified as Lincoln Lee Mays, and the victim got into a verbal argument. Mays discharged a firearm which struck the victim multiple times and fled the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.

Mays, a 29-year-old black male, is described as approximately 5-foot-6 and 145 pounds with a tattoo on his chest that reads, “North or Nothing” and a tattoo of a cross on his right arm. He was in possession of a firearm and considered armed and dangerous.

He was located later Sunday and arrested, charged with one count of aggravated assault and his bond was set at $500,000.
