Suspect in shooting in Downtown Ocean Springs still remains unnamed

Ocean Springs Police Captain Ryan Lemaire spoke with News 25 today to provide an update on the shooting at Scratch Kitchen this past Friday.

Captain Lemaire says the department is not yet releasing the name of the suspect due to the ongoing investigation, but was able to confirm the suspect as a 22-year-old old male.

Captain Lemaire says he spoke to several witnesses who say they have seen the suspect before out in both Jackson and Harrison counties, but has had no prior incidents such as this.

He says while the incident was a shock to the residents, it is something that they do not have to worry about moving forward. “We’re down there every weekend. We have officers that are there every weekend, you know, and you just had this group of people in here just like the previous one. So, we’re doing everything we can to keep the public safe, and it is, it was that isolated incident.”
