Suspect in road rage incident now faces murder charge in Gulfport

What began as a road rage incident is now a murder investigation.

On July 8, Gulfport Police responded to a report of a shooting at 41st Street and Searle Avenue. A man was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital and listed as critical.

Detectives developed Rose Madge Madison, 34, as a suspect. Through the investigation, detectives discovered Madison and the victim had become involved in a road rage incident near Three Rivers Road and Airport Road. A verbal argument ensued and then escalated when Madison pursued the victim to 41st Street and Searle Avenue.

When the victim stopped, Madison shot a firearm multiple times, hitting the victim.

Madison was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a bond of $150,000 on July 8.

On Tuesday, Gulfport Police Department was advised that the victim died as a result of his injuries. His identity has not been released pending notification of the family by by the Harrison County Coroner’s Office.

Madison was again arrested and charged with first degree murder. She was processed and taken to the Harrison County jail and held in lieu of $1 million bond.
