Suspect in Bayside Park shooting now in custody in Hancock County

After almost a week on the run, a suspect in a shooting in Bayside Park is now behind bars in Hancock County.

Deputies with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department found Cody Joseph Necaise, 23, of Pass Christian, was booked into the Hancock County jail about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

He faces charges of aggravated assault manifesting extreme indifference to human life and two counts of possession of a weapon by a felon.

According to media reports, Necaise was arrested just after midnight in the Kiln.

Necaise was developed as a suspect in the July 21 shooting of a 38-year-old man identified as Tommy Smith. Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam has said that Smith was shot in the abdomen, according to news reports.
