Suspect Arrested for Shooting in New Orleans

Officials in New Orleans have announced an arrest in the shooting of a Tulane University medical student early Friday.
Twenty-five year old Euric Cain was arrested this morning. Police say he confessed to shooting Dr. Peter Gold, a fourth year medical student. Gold intervened on Friday morning when Cain was allegedly attempting to rob and kidnap a woman. The altercation was caught on tape.
Dr. Gold was shot in the stomach. When the suspect tried to shoot him in the head, the gun jammed.
At a press conference today, officials emphasized that for their own safety citizens should try to call police instead of intervening.
Cain will be charged with attempted first degree murder, second degree kidnapping and armed robbery.
Dr. Gold remains hospitalized in guarded condition.
