All Summer ’16 Back to School Bash

Coast schools are about to be in full swing and one local church is making sure they are properly suited for the school year.
This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. organizers with New Birth Full Gospel Baptist Church are handing out backpacks full of supplies to Harrison County community members in need of a little help.
Event organizer Kevin Payton says in the meantime, they need folks to help donate school supplies. Items needed are clear backpacks, loose leaf paper, pens, pencils and much more. “If the kids do not have the materials to work with, we cannot expect them to perform. So, if we have those supplies for them, number one, it helps to boost their pride and sensitivity to the needs that the teacher is demanding of them, but if they don’t have the supplies, automatically they go into their shell and so it’s very, very important that we help our students to get back on track.”
You can donate school supplies at church, located off Highway 49 in Gulfport.
On the August 6th distribution day, there will be plenty of things to enjoy, including a bounce house, food and drinks and more to help send kids back to school.
