‘Stuff the Bus’ school supply drive underway
Walmart and the Salvation Army are teaming up for “Stuff the Bus,” a campaign providing new school supplies to local children in need.
When shoppers visit Walmart, they can purchase and drop off school supplies into The Salvation Army collection bins at the front of each store.
The goal is to fill each barrel with school supplies for kids.
Some of the most needed supplies are: backpacks, calculators, pens and pencils, and there is also a list of supplies needed taped on each barrel.
“This is very important to the kids’ future. It’s not just about the supplies, it’s about possibilities, we believe that and that’s why we do it,” Salvation Army Area Commander Major Bradley Caldwell says. “There are no live people manning the sites because of social distancing; we just hope that people will bring the materials and feel inspired to give.”
The drive runs through tomorrow, and if you don’t feel comfortable going to a store, you can still donate by calling The Salvation Army Mississippi Gulf Coast at (228) 374-8301.
