Study shows 24 percent of rural roads in Mississippi are in poor condition

A new report finds Mississippi’s rural roads and bridges have significant concerns.

This is according to research from ‘Trip,’ a national transportation research nonprofit group.

The study shows 24 percent of Mississippi’s rural roads are rated in poor condition, the seventh highest rating in the nation, and 28 percent are in mediocre condition.

It also shows the rate of traffic fatalities on Mississippi’s non-interstate, rural roads is significantly higher than the fatality rate on all other roads in the state.
