Students Tour Downtown Gulfport Businesses

What does it take to start a business? That’s what a group of Gulfport High students learned this morning.
Students enrolled in a business course took a trip to visit a variety of different businesses in the downtown area. They learned everything from what it’s like in a corporation to what it’s like to be your own small business owner.
Teachers tell News 25 this was a great opportunity for students to actually see and hear firsthand what they’re learning about. Business management technology teacher Amy Lee said, “It just gets them out. We teach them all this stuff in the classroom but for them to be able to get out and to see it hands on and experience it and see how these business owners handle things that are going on on a daily basis.”
Students visited Hancock Bank, the Port of Gulfport offices, some local restaurants and the Galleria of Fine Arts.
