Students prohibited from viewing eclipse
In honor of the great eclipse, schools all across the nation held lessons and viewing parties to witness the incredible sight. Some students were kept from viewing the eclipse for safety reasons.
Several schools across the Gulf Coast prohibited their students from going outside to prevent any harm during the eclipse.
The assistant principal at Lyman Elementary tells News 25 the reason for keeping his students from viewing the eclipse. “The most important thing for all students and staff is to make sure we take safety first and we let students watch it on television, but not outside because of the safety possibilities.”
When speaking to the staff at Lyman Elementary, most agreed that it would be unfair to view the eclipse while their students were not allowed.
