Student Band Surprises Airport Passengers
No matter how cold the place your destination is this holiday season, Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport wants to make sure your heart is warm before takeoff.
The Harrison Central High School band surprised the airport’s passengers today in Gulfport by popping up and serenading travelers with holiday tunes.
Twenty Harrison Central students from the school’s brass ensemble played Christmas songs in the airport lobby. The performance drew a crowd. Maggie Fraisancho plays French horn for the Harrison Central band. She said, “With the pieces that we’re playing, hearing it at the beginning of December, they’re getting into the holiday spirit and it’s just lightening up the mood a little bit.”
Director of Marketing Teckie Hinkebein said, “Travel can sometimes be a little stressful. What we’re excited to do is bring ease and convenience in addition to having something a little bit fun and sporadic.”
Airport officials are looking for bands and other musical talent to bring more holiday joy to passengers. If interested, call 228-863-5951.
