Strengthening Immigration Laws Passed by State Senate

Stricter enforcement of federal immigration laws could be on its way to the Magnolia State.
The state Senate passed a bill that would require officers to alert federal agencies when they believe someone is in the country illegally. The bill authorizes them to make arrests if they have probable cause.
State Senator Sean Tindell of Gulfport authored the bill, saying it is meant to prevent any city in Mississippi from protecting illegal immigrants from federal agencies.
The bill now moves onto the House for consideration.
