Stennis rocket engine test
After six years of construction, Stennis is the closest it’s ever been to testing the new space launch system rockets, also known as SLS.
News 25 has been following NASA since they began testing single RS-25 engines in 2015. Now, with the completion of the B-2 test stand, all four engines will be tested at the same time.
The B-2 stand was originally used to test engines during the space shuttle program. Now, the modified B-2 stand will recreate the system that will take astronauts back into space and eventually to Mars.
Testing is scheduled to begin sometime during the second half of this year.
