State Welcome Center Representatives visit the Gulf Coast

Communities along the Gulf Coast saw a decline in tourism over the last year, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the City of Ocean Springs is ready for a comeback.

The Chamber of Commerce Main Street and Tourism Bureau hosted a familiarization tour for State Welcome Center representatives.

They visited several locations across Ocean Springs including the Mary C. where they stopped in for an art demonstration.

Chamber Executive Director Cynthia Sutton says the idea is to showcase everything that is new and fun in Ocean Springs for the representatives so that they will tell visitors about all the city has to offer. “We are a tourist town. Fifty percent of our business is tourist traffic. We hope that more passersby out of this will stop in Ocean Springs because these folks are going to go out and tell visitors you have to stop here. Hopefully that will bring more tourists into Ocean Springs as they go to Florida or Texas.”

Sutton encourages everyone to get out and experience what Ocean Springs is all about.
