State Senate Candidate

The race for State Senate is still months away, but one local resident has already thrown her hat into the ring.
Katherine Decoito, a local business owner, will be running against District 49 incumbent Sean Tindell in August. Decoito is a member of the Republican Party and is hoping to become the first female State Senator from the district.
If elected, she says her main focus would be working on educational standards.
“I think we have a population of people that are fed up of being fed false promises, we’ve been told we are going to do away with Common Core and we simply rename it. I think Mississippi is perfectly capable of raising educational standards and giving teachers and schools what they need to be successful”, said Decoito.
The election will be August 4th.
