State Primary Results
It is Mississippi’s presidential primary Election Day 2016. According to election officials, more voters than usual were expected to cast ballots. With this being a presidential election, the Republican Party has 40 delegates at stake tonight while the Democrats have 36.
For the Republican race, Donald Trump has been named the winner of the state with 50 percent of the vote. Ted Cruz gave him a run for his money, getting 35 percent of the vote. John Kasich and Marco Rubio were a distant third and fourth.
In the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton was reported shortly after polls closed to have won the state. Clinton wins in a landslide with 83 percent of the vote. She holds a sizable lead in the delegates over Bernie Sanders.
