State Lottery Heads to the Senate
The Mississippi House votes twice to establish a state lottery which would deliver half of its financing to public education and road maintenance.
The effort is likely to be squashed in the state Senate. A lottery amendment was added to a Senate bill which would set rules for online fantasy sports. Another amendment was added to a different Senate bill that was originally written to revise pay for supervisors of charity bingo games.
Many Legislators oppose a state lottery due to religious reasons.
