State Lawmakers Questioning Raises

With a struggling state budget, state lawmakers are questioning raises given by state agencies or sub agencies.
According to the clarion ledger, a report requested by lawmaker’s shows from July of 2016 to November of 2016, only half of the fiscal year, 74 state agencies or sub agencies gave 12 point 4 million dollars in raises to nearly 44-hundred employees.
This included 142 raises of 10-thousand a year or more.
The problem? The state has been forced to cut the budget by well over 100 million dollars in the past year due to revenue shortfalls and accounting errors.
The state has had to make budget cuts four times over the last two years.
