State inmate dies after being found unresponsive at George County Regional Correctional Facility, autopsy pending
GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A state inmate at the George County Regional Correctional Facility died Sunday after being found unresponsive inside the facility, according to the George County Sheriff’s Office.
The George County Regional Correctional Facility reported that 69-year-old Robert Pugh was found unresponsive. Life-saving measures began in less than one minute with CPR immediately administered by responding personnel.
Authorities reported that a pulse was regained prior to the arrival of emergency medical services.
Pugh was transported to George County Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 8:03 a.m.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. According to the sheriff’s office, there were no immediate findings which would indicate anything other than natural causes at this time.
