State Flag Issue in Gautier

The state flag debate takes center stage in Gautier.
Last night, during the City Council meeting, a council member asked if there were any objections to taking the state flag down and replacing the flag with the city of Gautier flag. There were no objections and the Mississippi state flag was replaced by the Gautier city flag last night.
This afternoon, the Mississippi state flag was put back up and the city flag taken down. The flag is owned by American Legion Post 1992.
Gordon Gollott, the mayor of Gautier, told News 25 he has decided the City Council should vote on the flag issue. The City Council will meet tomorrow at 6 p.m. to discuss the budget. The mayor did not know if a vote would take place tomorrow. He said the flag issue would probably come up.
