St. Patrick student recognized on international level
Students across the state competed at the Region Six Science and Engineering Fair last week at the Coast Coliseum. One St. Patrick High School student will now be recognized on the international level.
Senior Shannon Kirkpatrick was awarded first place in medicine and health. She will get an all-expense paid trip to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania in May where she will compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair.
Kirkpatrick said, “I’m most excited to go and tour Pittsburg, but I’m excited to see what students from around the world have to offer in the scientific world.”
St. Patrick High School Science Department Chair Deborah Worrel said, “It’s a wonderful experience. It’s a week long experience and it’s international so she’ll get to meet a lot of different people with a lot of different backgrounds.”
On average, 1,800 students from 75 different countries attend the International Fair.
