St. Patrick football sends four to the next level
St. Patrick football sending four players to the next level today, the largest signing day class in program history.
Tight end Jackson Kostmayer signed with Pearl River Community College. Offensive lineman Tristan Marchioni signed with Copiah-Lincoln Community College, receiver Landen Petersen penned his name on a national letter of intent to Louisiana College.
Defensive end Morgan Owen is venturing the farthest, signing with Worchester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
After the ink dried, the quartet of players took time to reflect on this momentous day for the Fighting Irish program. Petersen said, “The school has not done this at all and you know to have for the first time to have four signings in one, it shows that we’re really growing the program. And you know you look at where we were four years ago, we were nowhere near this. So, it’s a big accomplishment for us.”
Owen said, “Knowing that this is my years of doing good for the school, helping our St. Patrick expand and grow from the program. And also knowing that it means that our football program is working and producing excellent young men.”
Marchioni said, “I think it’s a testament to what Coach Bailey’s done in the two years he’s been here. So, it’s really good to see. And I’m hoping the younger kids do the same.”
Kostmayer said, “I’m going to remember this forever. This is going to be a great day to remember as long as I am alive.”
As if signing to play at the next level wasn’t already impressive enough, this signing day class also helped St. Patrick get back to the playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
