St. Patrick Boys Basketball: Michael Fitzpatrick signs with Southeastern Baptist

Another signing Monday afternoon at St. Patrick High School for boys basketball standout Michael Fitzpatrick.

The 6’6” big man put pen to paper with Southeastern Baptist, an NAIA school out of Laurel.

Fitzpatrick was the lone senior for the Fighting Irish this season, averaging nine points and more than eight rebounds per game en-route to St. Patrick’s Elite 8 appearance.

He says he was able to visit Southeastern Baptist before the start of COVID-19 and followed through with a good first impression. “I think it was my first choice automatically because Coach Hall, he’s a great coach, and I’ve talked to him and he recruited me really heavily, so I thought that was the best place for me.”

St. Patrick Head Boys Basketball Coach Keith Robinson said, “Well, he was the anchor of our team. Defensively, he was our leading rebounder. He had a knack for getting in foul trouble, so his numbers aren’t what they would be if he played a whole ball game. I think he averaged like nine for the season scoring, like eight rebounds. Had he played 30 minutes, no telling what those numbers would’ve been. He did a great job for us. He was a great leader.”

Fitzpatrick did 77 percent of his career scoring as a high school senior at St. Patrick.
