St. Patrick baseball’s Otis Brooks signs with East Mississippi Community College

One standout athlete from St. Patrick Catholic High School is taking his talents to the next level.

Otis Brooks put pen to paper with East Mississippi this afternoon, coming off a really strong junior season for the Fighting Irish in which he led the team with a .377 batting average and 29 hits to go along with 23 runs, 15 RBI, and six doubles.

On the mound, he posted a 3.44 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 40-and-two-thirds innings, all team highs. “Yeah, it’s kind of like a dream come true. It’s really cool. I still don’t believe it, and it’s awesome. I mean it’s not like it’s paid off because I’ve still got a lot to do, but it’s like a step I guess, a step up. It means a lot.”

Brooks says he has a four-pitch mix, consisting of fastball, change-up, curveball, and slider.

Some other movement on the recruitment front. Harrison Central quarterback Christian Turner committing to Pearl River Community College. Pascagoula’s Jaylon Parnell offered by Florida International, first Division I offer for him. Picayune’s Jamonta Waller getting the call from Mississippi State, his fifth D1 look and Picayune’s Zavion Coleman adding Southern Miss to his bag over the weekend.
