Springtime At The Community Garden
Just in time for spring, the community of Gulfport is growing together at the 34th Street Wholistic Gardens & Education Center.
This morning, the Harrison County Master Gardeners were out at community garden, a 6-acre patch of land at the corner of 34th Street and Jeffrey Circle.
Currently, there about 100 plots for planting.
Garden director James Franklin tells News 25 expansions are already in the works, and it’s good to learn self reliance, but the most important thing is to get people together and get outside!
“Especially if you sedEntary this is some of the best exercise you can get out here in the garden.. bending, pushing, pulling… all of those things that you’d be doing that you don’t even realize you’re exercising. we have apartment complexes, senior complex, elementary schools within the immediate area, say about a mile.. so we’re all about the diversity.”
