Spring Breakers with United Way Plant Trees at Jones Park

Alternative spring breakers from across the country continue to complete service projects all along the Coast.

Wednesday, students from United Way of South Mississippi’s spring break program planted trees throughout Jones Park. The United Way is hosting 22 students and has done everything from painting to yard work. The students have been on the Coast since last weekend have really enjoyed their time thus far.

Brett Johnson, a senior at Jacksonville State, says, “It’s been great. They’ve built in a program where we can learn a lot about the history and the culture of Biloxi and Gulfport, and so we’ve learned a lot, we’ve had a lot of fun. We’re going on a shrimping trip tonight and we’ve got to give a lot back throughout the day too, so it’s been really fun.”

The students will be on the Coast until Saturday morning.
