Sports Illustrated Resort possibly coming to the Gulf Coast

D’Iberville is looking to build one of the first-ever Sports Illustrated Resorts on the Gulf Coast.

The resort, which would be named Blue Water Beach, would be built on what was originally to be the site of the Gulf Coast Galleria Shopping Center.

The 78-acre property would be located directly south of the Promenade on the south quadrant of the I-10/I-110 intersection in D’Iberville and would cost about $410 million to build.

The D’Iberville City Council unanimously voted their support of the property and agreed to issue the tax increment financing bonds to cover part of the cost of infrastructure improvements for the new development.

Blue Water Beach would be home to three hotels, shopping centers, restaurants, festivals, and so much more.

Chris Gouras with Gouras and Associations Consultants who is handling city, county, and state incentives for the project says “this project will be a bona fide family oriented entertainment destination that will greatly enhance Mississippi Gulf Coast tourism.”

The hope is that it will open by late 2024.
