‘Splash Bash’ will benefit the Mississippi Aquarium

People are gearing up for a splashin’ good time in Gulfport tonight to support one of the Coast’s biggest upcoming attractions.

This is the second year Hancock Whitney is hosting its ‘Splash Bash’ to benefit the under-construction Mississippi Aquarium.

All proceeds raised from the bash will go to support the aquarium, which has partnered with local organizations like Hancock Whitney and Mississippi Power to help meet the pre-opening budget. Mississippi Aquarium CEO David Kimmel said, “Government has supplied about 90 percent of our total pre-opening budget. It’s really important from the citizens standpoint, from the general public standpoint, from the corporations here to really also come together and support us for that last 10 percent of our overall pre-opening budget. It’s exciting for the companies that have already signed on.”

Hancock Whitney Bank Mississippi President Emory Mayfield said, “This is one of the largest projects that’s been undertaken on the Coast in quite a while and we wanted to be there to be counted on for our community.”

The aquarium expects to open with no existing debt.
