Special Needs Art Camp in Ocean Springs
One local group is helping special needs children on the Coast through the arts.
Today was day two of a camp through the South Mississippi Special Needs Organization. Children are invited out to the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center to learn about theater, art and music at the three day camp.
The group has only been around for about a year and wanted to keep these children active over the summer. Camp organizer Donna Brewer tells News 25 the reason for the camp comes down to exposure. “The exposure for the kids themselves, the exposure for the community to see what positive aspects can come from activities such as this. As small as it may be, we’re only here for two hours a day, but the kids are loving it.”
Tomorrow is the last day of the camp. The children will be focusing on music.
