Special Meeting against Proposed Bill in D’Iberville
The fate of D’Iberville’s proposed galleria could be at risk.
Tonight, the City of D’Iberville called a special meeting to show their disapproval of Senate Bill 2922 which could terminate the rebate benefits once approved by the state for projects like the galleria.
Biloxi Mayor FoFo Gilich was also in attendance in support of the city’s stance against this bill.
D’Iberville Mayor Rusty Quave tells News 25 this bill would be detrimental to the work already in place for the future Gulf Coast galleria. “There’s been over $50 million worth of highway work in preparing to take this new shopping center in. There’s about $580 million worth of moneys out there that the Coast is not getting because they’re driving to other locations to get these new stores that we’re getting ready to put right here in D’Iberville, Mississippi.”
The city sent a resolution to the members of the Gulf Coast Delegation, pleading with them to support the protection of the former commitments made by the state to economic developments by defeating amendment 2 to Senate Bill 2922.
