Special election for Gulfport Ward 2 council position set
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- An official date for Gulfport’s special election to fill the City Council Ward 2 position has been released.
Polls will open on Tuesday, June 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting locations include Zone 2A: Westside Community Center on 8th Street and Zone 2B: Francis X. Collins Lifetime Fitness Center on Swetman Road.
Absentee voting must be mailed by noon on June 6 to be counted. This special election comes following former Ward 2 Councilman Ron Roland’s resignation in April.
A serious fall in July 2025 led him to resign from the position to focus on his continued recovery and health.
