Southern Miss vs. Kentucky preview

Game week is officially here for the college football season which means press conference day across the country. This morning, the Southern Miss football team took to the podium leading up to its home opener versus Kentucky.
Last year, the Golden Eagles kicked off the Jay Hopson era in Lexington, setting the stage for one of the most highly anticipated rematches in program history. On that night, USM came back from a school record 25 points down, scoring 34 unanswered starting late in the second quarter.
Come Saturday, the Wildcats will be out for revenge and it’s up to the Black and Gold to be one their p’s and q’s. Defensive Back Kelsey Douglas said, “We’ve been pretty focused throughout the whole camp. It’s just, now we know that it’s, the time is now, it’s here. So I feel like it’s definitely time to put in all the last pieces that we need, and make sure everybody is on attack and tuned in to what their assignment is.”
Southern Miss Head Coach Jay Hopson said, “They’re a team that has our utmost respect, so we know that we’ve got a good football team coming in and certainly that caught my eye last year, so we know we have a good football team coming into town.”
Southern Miss and Kentucky kickoff 2017 from MM Roberts Stadium at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised on CBS Sports.
