Southern Miss Mom Squad: Devotion group supporting sons from the stands

After riding a 14 game winning streak heading into the C-USA Tournament, Southern Miss was living on more than just a prayer in today’s elimination game, but even still a little shot to the big guns upstairs can’t hurt.
Prior to first pitch, nine of the USM mothers got together on the concourse at MGM Park to say a devotional for their boys. They call it the Mom Squad and it’s been going on for several years. Dating back to when Jay Myrick was pitching for the Golden Eagles, these mamas have been the support system and religious backbone for the Black and Gold.
As you might imagine, school spirit comes in no short supply. Dylan Burdeaux’s mother, Rhonda Burdeaux, said, “Everybody is involved. I’m not going to say there’s one particular person involved, but it’s a core group of moms that are here almost all the time, and we try to have a devote before one game every weekend and it’s just a great group of parents and supporting our boys. Southern Miss, To The Top! Woo! Woo!”
During the regular season, Burdeaux says the Mom Squad would get together every Saturday morning prior to game day.
