Southern Miss football update

The Southern Miss football team also threw the pads on this week as fall camp rages on in Hattiesburg.
After this morning’s session, the Golden Eagles are six down with 23 to go. The day to day grind of battling the heat in full uniform is part of the rigor of a Jay Hopson practice and it’s up to the players to push through it.
After USM’s fourth day on the field, it’s all about mind over matter even without having to go through two-a-days. “There’s some guys that have been play-makers that are making plays, which that’s good to see they’re staying on top of their game. I think both quarterbacks are coming out and battling hard and playing hard, so that’s good,” said Coach Hopson.
Quarterback Kwadra Griggs said, “We could have been more faster and more explosive, but I think we had a rough day overall as a team. We’re going to continue to get better as camp goes around.”
Wide receiver Allenzae Staggers said, “Coach Hop, he’s a good life coach. So he preaches every day don’t let that devil fill you with negative energy so we’re positive. We keep a positive attitude. We go out there and motivate each other, and we push through it.”
The Black and Gold are back on the practice field Friday and Saturday mornings before their next off day on Sunday.
