Southern Miss AD Accepts Position at University of San Diego

After more than three years in Hattiesburg and less than 48 hours after USM’s New Orleans Bowl win, Southern Miss Director of Athletics Bill McGillis is heading back to the West Coast.
McGillis officially resigned this afternoon, accepting a position at the University of San Diego as the school’s associate vice president and executive director of athletics.
Strength and Conditioning Coach Zac Woodfin will serve as the interim AD although McGillis will continue to serve USM up until January 17th before starting at USD on the 23rd.
University President Dr. Rodney Bennett says Woodfin won’t be considered as a permanent replacement for McGillis as he’ll be conducting a national search to find his successor.
A native of the West Coast, McGillis gets closer to his family with this move.
