Southeastern Association of Fire Chief Conference in Biloxi
As many as 400 fire chiefs from across the Southeast gathered at the IP Casino in Biloxi for the annual conference of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs.
The organization will make history with Biloxi’s fire chief being named the first Mississippian to head the 93-year-old organization.
Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney has served as Mississippi’s representative on the organization’s board for three years and will be named president of the organization.
Chief Boney explains what this means to him. “It will be really nice to be able to work with the rest of the group in that capacity as the president. We all aspire to do that. So, I’m looking forward to it. It’s a humbling experience, great organization to work with, very professional. We’re excited about it.”
Chief Boney says after a year and a half of not getting together being able to come together is really exciting and he believes that is a reason why the group has been so successful.
