Skimming Devices Found in Harrison County
On Wednesday, January 18th, 2017, Sheriff Troy Peterson announced the ongoing investigation of credit card fraud.
According to Sheriff Peterson, a Harrison County sheriff’s deputy responded to the Robinwood One Stop located at 18447 Highway 49 Saucier, MS in reference to a suspicious circumstance. The deputy was told that a credit card skimming device was located on a fuel pump. Harrison County Sheriff’s Department investigators recovered four skimming devices from four separate fuel pumps.
The devices are described as very sophisticated and cannot be detected by consumers and have the ability to capture credit card information to include personal identification numbers. Sheriff Peterson said that at this time it is not known how long the devices have been installed on the machines.
Sheriff Peterson said that the investigation is ongoing and all leads are being pursued.
