Six-year-old boy shot in Gulfport dies

The six-year-old boy who was shot this evening has died. According to Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove, Zaylan Sparkman was pronounced dead at 7:12 tonight.
Gulfport Police Department responded to a shooting victim at the 3600 block of Sabine Street around 6 p.m. When officers arrived they found the little boy suffering from a gunshot wound in the stomach. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania says there is no suspect at large and says it’s a contained situation and is still currently under investigation. “Same reaction any family would have when their six-year-old is shot. They’re frantic. They’re upset and that’s why we’re taking our time with this because we want to make sure we can do our best possible job with it,” said Chief Papania.
