Singing River opening first dose Pfizer vaccines to those 50 and older

At Singing River Gulfport today, first dose vaccines opened up to those 50 years old and older.

Also, over 1,000 first dose Pfizer COVID vaccines went into the arms of South Mississippians. It took a day and a half to book 1,200 COVID vaccine first dose appointments which is longer than usual.

On Thursday, the age requirement of eligibility for the vaccine dropped to 50 years old, making more people eligible, helping fill appointment slots for today’s COVID vaccine drive-thru in Gulfport. Singing River Chief Medical Officer Randy Roth said, “We’re having our first dose Pfizer event in Harrison County, giving 1200 doses out today and it’s been a beautiful day, much better than Monday and Tuesday doing it in the rain. Our hotlines have been blowing up since the age went to 50, with no conditions. So, we expect to get a lot more shots in people’s arms at the age of 50 and above.”

On Monday, Singing River will begin offering Johnson and Johnson one dose vaccines. To get an appointment visit the Singing River Health System Facebook page.
