Singing River hosted COVID vaccine drive-thru

More shots in arms as Singing River administers more COVID vaccines to patients 75 and older in Jackson County.

Singing River had about 940 COVID vaccine appointments set up for today at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.

They are working with a 100 percent administration rate. Anyone who is scheduled to get the COVID vaccine has received their shot.

With the help of over 75 staff and volunteers, Singing River is able to serve the patients on the Coast.  Singing River Ocean Springs Administrator Heath Thompson said, “Today we have 942 on the schedule of our patients and that will conclude our current allotments that we have for first doses. That will actually put us at a little over 100 percent utilization because we have some extra doses in the vials. So, we haven’t wasted a drop. I’m hoping any day now we’ll hear from the state that we’re going to receive more and we’ll open up our call line.”

As of today, Singing River has put 8,325 vaccines in the arms of Gulf Coast residents. As they get more doses from the state their call lines will reopen for patients 65 years and older.
