Singing River Health System partners with Ocean Springs School District to provide vaccinations to educators

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss (OSSD) — Ocean Springs School District is excited to announce a partnership with Singing River Health System to provide over 200 Pfizer 1st-dose COVID-19 vaccinations to interested OSSD employees.

“Singing River Health System has been an incredible partner throughout this entire school year,” Dr. Bonita Coleman, Superintendent of OSSD, said. “We were extremely grateful for their continued support through our Medical Advisory Council formed last summer and now for their assistance in providing our educators, who have worked so tirelessly on the front lines since August, with an opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.”

“It is important for us to take care of vaccinating teachers working on the front line serving our children during this pandemic,” Lee Bond, Chief Executive Officer, Singing River Health System. “Our goal is to make the vaccination process as convenient as possible for teachers by taking the vaccines straight to the schools. This initiative will play a vital role in protecting those who may be at high risk of exposure and helping further reduce the spread of COVID. We are excited to be able to provide this service.”

The vaccinations are only open to OSSD employees that signed up in advance and will be administered on Thursday, March 4th, at Greyhound Stadium. Individuals who meet the current vaccine eligibility requirements are encouraged to sign up for a vaccination appointment at covidvaccine.umc.edu, or by calling Singing River’s Vaccine Hotline at (228) 809-5555 as supplies last.
