Singing River Classic moved to Gautier

One of the biggest high school football rivalries on the Gulf Coast is the Singing River Classic between Pascagoula and Gautier. As of today, the home field advantage is going back to the latter for the second year in a row.
Pascagoula and Gautier Athletic Director Greg Freeman confirms with News 25 the decision to relocate Friday’s match up. The Panthers scheduled their first three games on the road, but the field at War Memorial Stadium still isn’t ready to go for week four.
Freeman says the contractor hasn’t finished installing the new artificial turf, but hopes it’ll be ready for the team’s next home game versus Gulfport on the 29th.
This week’s contest is the first of a two year deal which means the Gators will surrender their 2018 home field advantage in return.
Pascagoula won last year’s regular season finale on the road 37-31. The crosstown foes will kick things off at 7 p.m. Friday.
